Create Your Own Music
Explore lyrics, melody, harmony, and structure to develop the ability to create your own original songs. Curriculum will explore general musicianship abilities and an understanding of the cultural significance of songs.
This program is offered by UW-Eau Claire's renowned Music and Theatre Arts Department. Our nationally recognized faculty are experts in their fields and are eager to support students in their education. This 18-credit program is designed so you can personalize the curriculum to fit your interests, choosing from a variety of electives and courses, including songwriting, creative writing, music theory, and music history.

This is a project-based course in which students practice the art of songwriting and explore how lyrics, melody, harmony, and structure make a great song. Each student will write or co-write multiple songs.

Introduction to principles of music composition with an emphasis on recent art music. Composition and performance of student works for one to five players.

Music Theory Fundamentals
This course covers fundamental concepts of written music theory and aural skills for musical theatre majors, music minors, and Recording Arts Certificate students.
